Finally, it is here at my doorstep. The long-awaited Android 4.4 (Kitkat) update for HTC One arrived for Unlocked International models. HTC started seeding Android 4.4 update for One couple of days ago, starting from Taiwan. We have reported that it might take 2-3 weeks to hit all the regions, but HTC is indeed fast in expanding the roll-out regions list. The update is finally available in the U.S as well.
As usual, the update will be bringing standard Android 4.4 features including critical security patches. In addition, HTC has done a few modifications to optimize the overall UI. Although, HTC didn’t mention changelog for U.S models update and the given Android 4.4 Gapps update notification also been varied from what we have seen in Taiwan update. In our quick review, we do notice that the UI got stable and the battery percentage indicator is so helpful. HTC has enabled that users can manually assign the Home button action by entering into the settings. We have provided almost all screenshots to provide a better idea for you, don’t forget to check out each. Find our full changelog below.
Here is the early changelog :
– Android 4.4 update
– Battery charging percentage indicator
– Improved Gallery
– Low-light performance noticeably improved
– Added few more Video highlights options
– Ability to add soundtracks to your Highlights
– Overall System got stable and more
The update weighs 564.04MB just as you seen in pictures so we strongly recommend using high-speed internet connection to initiate the update. It might take 15-25 min based on your internet connection speed. We are started our digging to find out new additions. Stay Tuned to us for in-depth information.
If you are also HTC One owner and living in the U.S, then check out the update manually by entering into Settings -> About Phone -> Software updates -> Check for updates. If you can’t see any update notification then don’t worry, it will appear as soon as your device gets qualified for Android 4.4 update. We are again repeating that the update will take 2-3 weeks to hit all devices.
HTC USA President Jason Mackenzie also confirms the Android 4.4 update rolling out for unlocked models and he also mentioned that the carrier-branded HTC One versions will get update slightly later than the given 9/30. Check out his statement below:
